Master of Science in Ethical Leadership is designed for anyone seeking a leadership role in business, government, nonprofits, educational institutions or other organizations. The program consists of an integrated sequence of courses that gives students the tools to manage, develop and lead the employees of an organization.

The master's degree in Ethical Leadership presents a skill set focusing on gaining a deep understanding of leading and managing people, as well as learning about the management of human capital through an ethical lens. The curriculum focuses on ethical leadership, change management, sustainability and teamwork with diverse peoples. The program develops essential leadership skills, including: an ethical and social responsibility perspective for making decisions; preparation for leading in various organizational contexts (businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, educational institutions and other organizations); effective oral and written communication; and the ability to collaborate in a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment to achieve organizational objectives.

Omid Sabaghi, Ph.D. Director of Graduate Business Programs 313-993-1172 sabbagom@udmercy.edu

Dr. Omid Sabbaghi is an Associate Professor of Finance in the College of Business Administration at the University of Detroit Mercy. He received both his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, where he studied finance and econometrics. During his graduate studies, he was the recipient of an Oscar Mayer Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of California-Berkeley, triple-majoring in Economics, Statistics, and Applied Mathematics.

Dr. Sabbaghi's areas of research include portfolio management, volatility in financial markets, corporate finance, high-frequency financial transactions data, financial econometrics, and risk management. He received the Standard & Poor's Best Paper Award in Investments for his work on asset pricing. Dr. Sabbaghi has also served as a consultant to financial firms.

Outside of his research and teaching, he likes to spend time with family and friends, read, listen to music, and discover new people, ideas, places, and restaurants. In additions, Omid enjoys hiking and backpacking in the National Parks.

Admissions Criteria

The Master of Science in Ethical Leadership program is open to students of high promise who have earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. No prior academic work in business is required. Admission decisions are based on undergraduate grade point average (GPA), work experience, post graduate studies, and recommendations, and GMAT (if needed).
